Are we crazy?

As we have begun to tell more people about our plans to live aboard  with our kids we often hear the same comments and questions over and over.  I'd like to take a moment to respond to some of those comments and answer some of those questions.

#1.  "Are you F****** crazy?!?"

Well, maybe a little bit.  Those of you who know me (Sandi) personally, you know that I grew up living on a sailboat with my wonderful crazy family.  As I grew older and independent I knew I had a much greater need for adventure than most.   Now that we have kids, our goal is to give them a taste for it too.

#2.  Will you have internet?

Sometimes but part of the blessing of sailing is being away from the technology.  Yes, we will be able to get emails and have phone service but it will be spotty and we can't always be prompt with our responses.

#3.  Are you scared that someone will fall overboard?

Yes, however, we will take all the precautions we can to make sure that doesn't happen.  Our kids are young and 2 can't swim without floats yet so we have to be very diligent even at anchor.

#4.  What will you eat?  Will you just catch fish everyday?

That would be great but no. Besides fish would get boring after a while. Don and I have a lot to learn about fishing  so we will  have to provision for a few weeks at a time as there will be times where we don't have access to a grocery store.

#5.  What about the kids and school?

Well, Don has always had a dream of being a teacher so we will test out his teaching skills.  This is probably my biggest worry but we will share in this challenge together and come out on top.

#6.  How do we afford to  do this?
We can't... go to our GoFundMe page.  JOKING!  We may get into that in a future post.

Feel free to shoot us any questions you may want answered.  The kids are very excited to get this trip started and so are we,  They get to see the boat for the first time so this is the last group photo we will take prior to them becoming sailors!!
